About this product
This traditionally made handloomed deep indigo kilim rug with a cream base is inspired by the bazaars of the ancient Silk Road city of Samarkand. Contemporary enough for a loft apartment and yet also perfect for a house in the country, this rug is part of one of our best-selling ranges. The high wool content allows vibrancy and depth of colour, also allowing greater detail to be incorporated into the design.
Made by a GoodWeave accredited supplier, giving the best assurance that no child labour was used in the making of this product. Namaste and our suppliers both contribute a % of the value of the rugs/furnishings purchased to GoodWeave which then goes back into the communities where they are made!

Our supplier is a long term member of GoodWeave, ensuring no child labour is employed in the entire supply chain. The company specialises in hand loom rugs, many of which are made from recycled sources. They provide the skilled weavers, many of whom are women, with well-paid work and much of the weaving is carried out in the weavers own homes. This allows them to earn money by working hours around other roles such as supporting a family or agricultural work. They provide the raw materials to the weavers and the training required, helping to develop and sustain the local economy. The business provides valued employment to 15 people directly and a further 40 on a self-employed piecework basis. Direct employees benefit from paid holidays, sick pay and subsidised medical care.
