About this product
A vintage style freestanding wood cabinet hand finished in distressed blue with 4 clear glazed front panels, opening with 2 traditional pull handles to a complementary interior and central shelf. The sealing door has an integral edge to conceal the gap where the doors meet on closure and discreet swivel latches keep doors firmly secured. The top surface is part-framed in an ornate wood frame, forming a raised shelf. This piece is raised from the floor by legs and both sides have 2 glazed panes. A solid, purposeful storage unit or a display cabinet to showcase items while protecting them from dust. This one-off glazed cabinet is part of an exclusive collection of hand crafted, fairly traded Indian furniture made especially for Namaste.

Our supplier is a small, family owned company specialising in upcycling and recycling furniture from India. They provide skilled employment to 40 workers including skilled carpenters and artisan painters whose skills give furniture a new lease of life. The work is relatively well paid due to it being skilled work and we have visited them on several occasions and found a well organised environment with a happy workforce. Almost all of the wood is recycled and if any new wood is used then it is from sustainable sources such as mango wood. They care passionately about the environment, produce no waste materials and use recycled packaging materials. They support several local charities, including an organisation that teaches blind students, an organisation that supports homeless children and a local project that feeds and looks after homeless animals. Their policies align with the 10 Principles of Fair Trade as set out by the WFTO, THE World Fair Trade Organisation.
