Fair Trade & Promotions
Running promotions helps us sell more which in turn will benefit our producers as it increases demand for their products. Our artisan producers are always paid fairly & in full, long before the goods arrive with us. We place orders well in advance, usually around 6-7 months before we receive the goods & pay a large deposit to enable materials to be bought.
Most of what we sell is hand crafted using traditional artisan techniques, they take a lot of time to make and are not produced using machines. This also saves on energy and helps the planet. We make a commitment never to cancel orders and we work with our producers if they encounter problems. Delays are almost inevitable when we are dealing with developing economies and poor infrastructure and we understand and adapt to the problems our producers face.
If you compare these Fair Trade practices with the average commercial business, you will see a vast difference in both intention and outcome.If Namaste includes a suppliers product in a promotion, we will already have paid that supplier in full months ago and therefore, the only difference a supplier will see as a result of the promotion is that it might have helped to sell more of their goods and brought forward their next valuable order.
