This 5 tier lampshade (complete with fittings) is made from Lokta paper, hand made in Kathmandu, Nepal for Namaste on a fair trade basis. Lokta paper is made from the pulped bark of the Lokta plant, which grows at an altitude of 6 - 10 thousand feet in the Himalayas. Harvesting Lokta is environmentally sound and provides work for very poor mountain people. The light shines through the translucent paper of this lampshade, bringing to life the beautiful floral and paisley printed patterns.
